The Club
The Small Ruminant and Camelid Club at the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary medicine is an organization developed for students interested in sheep, goat, and camelid medicine. The club offers various experiences throughout the year that are both fun and educational. Some of the past opportunities the club has offered include participating in annual sheep and goat vaccinations, assisting in alpaca and llama shearing, and learning the practice of parasite management. These events allow students to gain field experience as well as meet the community of small ruminant farm owners in the area. The club also plays an active role with a local 4H group and participates in teaching members about various aspects of camelid medicine. We believe in the importance of offering educational and interactive opportunities to students as well as expanding our involvement within the community.
The club has a total of 50 active members, 10 of these are also members of the AASRP (American Association of Small Ruminant Practitioners). The club remains one of the most active clubs within the veterinary college and continues to expand every semester!
